This is almost what I was looking for. I love that I can separate each individual item amongst different people. However, the Gratuity part needs to be updated so that it allows fora different percentage such as 18% AND/OR allows for a specific tip total to be included (i.e. total tip was $25 not a specific percentage).

The purpose of this calculator was to help split the bill in uneven/custom ways, so this is great feedback. I’ll kick it over to my dev.
Can you also just let us enter the total cost listed for the tax. It would be helpful to just enter a number. Then a list of the people so we can see a total spread out to make sure we entered all the data correctly.
Ok. Looks like the running tally of updates is to:
1.) Allow for manually entered tax percentages OR manual entry tax dollar value. I’ll need to add a radio button there to select which one you want to enter. I think I’ll default to the dollar value of the tax.
2.) Listed people to see a total spread.
For number 2, I’m thinking I basically repeat the section where it says ‘calculate for one person’ and allow you to label them with names. I see how this could be useful, especially for larger groups. That will need a slight redesign, I think, so it takes up less space on the page.
Something like this:
Person’s name (manual entry) – Subtotal (manual entry)
Total Owed (calculated) – Tax Owed (calculated) – Tip Owed (calculated)
(Maybe even a field underneath each person that shows the remaining subtotal that hasn’t been assigned so you can see it change as you add their portion of the subtotal). What do you think?
